Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Who these terms apply to

SumThePod is operated by Jonas Link, Karlstr. 26, 79104 Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, hello@sumthepod.com. These terms apply to everyone who uses SumThePod. You must be at least 18 years old.

What SumThePod does

You add podcasts. SumThePod checks them for new episodes every night, transcribes them, summarises them with the help of AI models and sends you an email with the summaries every morning. When you add a podcast, you get the summary of its newest episode at once.

An account holds up to 10 podcasts and up to 50 summarised episodes per calendar month. Once the monthly limit is reached, further episodes wait for the next month, and the morning email tells you so.

Your account

There is no password. You sign in with a link we email you. Do not pass these links on, because whoever opens the link is in your account. There is one account per email address. You can delete your account at any time on your account page; deletion is immediate and final, as described in the privacy policy.

Trying it

On the landing page you can have the summary of one episode sent to you without having an account. For that we create a provisional account. In the first email you confirm your address, and only then do we send you the summary. The link in that second email confirms the account. Both links work for 7 days. If you do not confirm your address, we delete the provisional account after 7 days; if you confirm it but not the account, after 30 days. You then receive no further email. One trial is possible per email address.

Price

SumThePod is currently free. Before we introduce a price, we will tell you by email. Nothing is charged without your explicit order.

What you may and may not do

Add only podcasts you are entitled to access, and use the summaries for yourself. You may not disrupt the service, circumvent its limits, access other people's data or use it to process content you have no rights to.

Content and third-party rights

Podcast episodes belong to their publishers. Transcripts and summaries are derived from them and are meant for your personal use. They transfer no rights in the episodes to you; passing them on may infringe the publishers' rights. SumThePod's software and design remain ours.

AI content

Transcripts and summaries are produced by AI models and contain errors. Speech recognition mishears, a summary leaves things out and can state something the episode did not say. None of it is a reliable record, and none of it is advice, medical, legal, financial or otherwise. Check the episode yourself before relying on anything.

Availability

We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee it: SumThePod may be unavailable at times for maintenance or because a service we depend on is down. We may develop, change or discontinue the service. We will announce a discontinuation by email at least four weeks ahead.

Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may rely, and then only for the foreseeable damage typical of this kind of contract. Liability under the German Product Liability Act is unaffected.

Termination by us

If you breach these terms or endanger the service, we may suspend your account or close it after notice.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will send you the new text by email at least four weeks ahead. It applies only if you agree to it. If you do not agree, we may end the contract with four weeks' notice; you can delete your account yourself at any time.

Law, language, disputes

German law applies; mandatory consumer protection of the country you live in is unaffected. The German version of these terms is the binding one; the English version is a translation. We do not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
